Andrew Trischitta got his introduction to daytime when he began playing the role of Jack Manning on 'One Life to Live'. Throughout his tenure on the soap he got the opportunity to work with some stalwarts including; Melissa Archer [ex-Natalie] and Kassie DePaiva [ex-Blair]. Trischitta's next step was playing the role of Travis Montgomery on the series "Youthful Daze". It's been a while since he's been in the acting world but in our recent conversation with him, he promises he's not done with acting. He's also preparing for his upcoming graduation, so it's really an exciting time for him. Trischitta took the time to discuss with his us his time on the soap, if he would return to daytime and much more - read the full interview below!
Such an awesome pleasure getting this opportunity to interview a talented guy like yourself. You played the role of Jack Manning on 'One Life to Live' for a while, what was that experience like for you?
Andrew: Firstly, thank you for taking the time to interview me! Looking back on it, playing the role of Jack Manning was one of the best things that could have happened to me in my early career, and if I could, I would go back and do it all again because it was an absolute blast and I got to meet some amazing people, from Snoop Dogg to JWOWW to Corbin Bleu, and of course the amazing cast members. It was a little weird at first; having to drop out of public school isn’t easy. But, I wanted to complete my high school education, so I took classes on-line while working as a full time actor, and that meant my plate was very full from sunrise to sundown, sometimes longer. Between commuting myself into the city and being thrust into some intense storylines, I believe OLTL made me a more mature person than I would have been otherwise, and gave me a great life and career experience at a relatively young age.
Now, the show is off the air, what have you been doing since the cancellation?
Andrew: The timing of the shows cancellation was oddly coincidental. I started my freshman year at UCLA in the next Fall after the show was cancelled, and will be graduating in June. It has been a very fast four years and I can’t believe OLTL was that long ago, it seems like just yesterday we were on set and shooting episodes.
There are rumors that characters from the show could be used on 'General Hospital' or a reboot version of the show could hit Netflix since the rights to the show went back to ABC, if any of these were to happen would you be a part of it?
Andrew: Of course I would love to be a part of any kind of reboot or character resurrection. Not only because of the show, but because of the people involved in it. With my experiences in the Soap world so far, everyone, from actors to backstage crew, has had great character, and I would love to be surrounded by people like that again.
How has the relationship been with your former co-stars since the show ended? Who have you been in touch with?
Andrew: I have tried to keep connected with them as much as possible! Of course, calling or texting is sometimes hard given we are spread all over the country, but we keep up to date by following each other on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and any other form of social media. Of course I have kept strong ties with Kassie, my on-set mother. And I have been seeing Melissa Archer frequently as well, as we work on a new project together.
You've got this new series coming up called "Here to There" what can you share about that?
Andrew: I credit my involvement with “Here to There” solely on Melissa Archer. She recommended me to the writers of this sit-com (who had to approve of me, of course). The show takes place on the Seattle-Bainbridge commuter ferry in Seattle, Washington. My character, Ordinary Seaman Danny Raguseo is a guy who focuses more on girls than the political events of the time. He is smart and funny, but unknowingly so. He reports to Casey Cardwell (Melissa Archer), and feels he can get away with just about anything. The show focuses on the crew of the vessel, ranging from the captain to the first and second mate to the galley cook to a few regular commuters. Where the show gets interesting is in the commuters who travel on the ferry. Based on many real stories and facts, these commuters can make things pretty messy on board, leaving the crew to pick up the pieces and keep everything running as smoothly as it could possibly be. Oh, by the way congrats on your graduation - what does this mean for you now in terms of your acting career?
Andrew: College took up most of my time over the past four years, and that means my acting career outside of school was very limited. Now that I am done, I plan on getting back into the swing of things and auditioning like crazy until I find the right role and hope to appear on a screen sometime in the near future.
Any other projects on the horizon for you?
Andrew: “Here to There” is the only project I am working on at the moment. There are some small projects that are just swirling rumors at the moment, But I will keep everyone updated if things begin to start happening.
Would you consider a return to daytime on any of the four remaining sudsers - if so which one and what role could you see yourself playing?
Andrew: I would absolutely return to daytime. Back on OLTL, Jack was more of a troublesome teen, while Danny on Here to There is more comedic relief and an innocent. I would love to play the innocent, nice guy roles, but there are many types of characters between those two that would be really fun to play. I am completely open to almost any type of character, maybe a good guy who turns bad or vice versa.
Lastly, what keeps you busy outside of acting? Any personal romantic relationships or business adventures you can share about?
Andrew: Aside from winding down on my college career, I have been focusing on transitioning to living in LA full time. Currently I am extremely single, and focusing more on my personal life and career than on women. Apartment searching is always a process, as well as making sure my roommates and I all agree on a place. I have kept busy by playing sports as much as I can with my buddies, and exploring all different areas of LA, with the occasional trip to Vegas thrown in there for fun.
